Despite receiving poor reviews domestically, "Adipurush," filmmaker Om Raut's version of the Indian legendary epic "Ramayana," became the sixth greatest box office earner in the world in its first weekend.
The Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions of the movie, which stars Prabhas (from the Baahubali series), Kriti Sanon (as "Bhediya"), and Saif Ali Khan (as "Vikram Vedha"), were released on June 16 in theaters all around the world. The ancient epic was retold by Raut using contemporary narrative techniques, which divided reviewers but apparently had little of an impact on audiences.
According to data released by Comscore, "Adipurush" earned $2.5 million over the course of the previous weekend in the United States and $30.6 million internationally, including India, placing it fifth overall behind "The Flash," "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," and "Elemental." After Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan," it was the second-highest Indian international opening of the year and the fifth-highest Indian opening of all time, behind "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion," "RRR," "K.G.F: Chapter 2," and "Pathaan."
